Super Fun on a Short Scale Bass!

6th Aug 2018

I have the short scale set. These aren't perfect, but I had to give them five stars for fun and feel. First off, they sound tremendous - sonically they're definitely on the old-school side of flatwounds. Played with a pick, they're clicky and thumpy. Played with fingers, they have a tendency toward a stand-up vibe. They're very punchy in the low end. The feel is luxurious. They're not too tight, and the feel under your fingers could not be smoother. My only criticism is that I wish I could get a short-scale e-string with just a hair more tension. But then they might not be so much fun.

Shorts on Danelectro Longhorn Bass

This is a great set of flats: even, moderate tension, chunky, traditional balance of overtones and fundamental, a consistent E string without pitch instability or excess dullness, unwrapped ball ends so no "silk over the bridge" issues. I love these Precision Flats.

Best Strings For A Gibson SG Bass

John on 28th Aug 2017

I am most familiar with La Bella and D'Addario. I'd say, in my experience, a ratio of (Labella)80:20(Chromes) would be a good estimation of what these strings sound like. They've got the thump-like, smooth tendencies of La Bella, but they are a bit more alive, so I'd say they have some characteristics of D'Addario. Tension wise, I'd say less than La Bella, but feels very similar. Perfect strings, and exactly what I was looking for.

Fantastic Strings

Vincent LaRocca on 20th Feb 2017

Super smooth, well balanced flatwound strings, absolutely perfect for vintage 70's bass playing styles. GHS flats are far superior to any other flatwounds in this price range. Love them.

Awesome strings!

Finally! The sound and feel I've searched for years to find and they were right here all the time. They have what it takes to sound great!

Exceptional Craftsmanship (3050)

Having tried EVERY single string brand within the past few years, I am pleasantly surprised to annouce that GHS produces the best (imo) flatwound bass strings in North America. They're consistent, smooth, supple and have just the right amount of tension. If you're looking for a "european" quality string at a fractional cost, GHS Presision Flatwounds are the way to go!
