Revise my review of April 22nd

Lewis Ridgeway on 10th Aug 2013

On April 22nd I wrote a review describing my experience with the GHS La Classique smoothwound classical guitar strings. I am revising my opinion, as I have just put another set on my Cervantes guitar, and they are outstanding. I have no idea why they are so different to my first experience, but I would happily use these strings in the future.

GHS Classique not the "whisper" it claims to be

Lewis Ridgeway on 22nd Apr 2013

I have used GHS Vanguard (2500 series) for a few years, and like them. I decided to try the Classique "silverwound" for a change. I have two guitars, a Ramirez, and a Cervantes Carlos Pina model I put the Classique on the Cervantes, and there is no difference at all, between "regular' strings and the Classique when it comes to noise made when shifting. It was most disapointing. In addition, the tone is not as bright with these strings, as some other strings I have used. My Ramirez currently has the Vanguard Classic 2500 series, and I love the "quite" way I can shift on the lower three strings. It is possible that the "silverwound Classique" and not the right string for my Cervantes, and as I have not yet tried them on my Ramirez this might be too soon to judge. So.. in a week or two, I will put the other set of "Silverwound" that I bought on the Ramirez, and see if I get the "whisper" effect, and still get the bold tone that this guitar gives me.
